Homemade organ-and-drum-machine racket paired with puppet theatre, and neither half is the gimmick — New Orleans outsider genius, decades running.

Quintron & Miss Pussycat are a New Orleans duo who have worked together since the 1990s. Quintron plays organ and drum machine, including instruments of his own design — most notably the Drum Buddy, a light-activated analogue synthesiser he invented and has manufactured himself. Miss Pussycat sings, plays maracas and makes hand-built puppets.

Their shows typically combine a puppet play with a set of dense, danceable organ music that draws on garage, soul, gospel and New Orleans R&B. The pair have long been fixtures of the city's underground, running performances out of their own venue space in the Ninth Ward, and their records and staging have kept a deliberately homemade quality across decades of work.
