Municipal Waste formed in Richmond, Virginia in 2000 and have spent their career on the border between thrash metal and hardcore punk. Fronted by Tony Foresta with guitarist Ryan Waste, the band plays fast, short songs with gang vocals and titles that lean heavily on horror films, science fiction and drinking.
Albums including Hazardous Mutation, The Art of Partying and Massive Aggressive established them as a central act in the 2000s revival of crossover thrash, a style that had largely faded after the 1980s. Their live shows are known for chaotic pits and stage diving, and the band has toured steadily for more than two decades.
