The Rezillos formed in Edinburgh in the mid-1970s, emerging from the same moment as British punk but with a sensibility drawn more from 1960s garage rock, B-movies and comic books. Fronted by the twin vocals of Eugene Reynolds and Fay Fife, the band played fast, brightly coloured songs about science fiction and pop culture, and had a UK hit with "Top of the Pops". Their debut album, Can't Stand the Rezillos, appeared on Sire in 1978. The group split soon afterwards, with members continuing as the Revillos, and has reformed at various points since. Live, they keep the same approach: short songs, high tempos and a deliberately theatrical presentation.
