Jungle royalty since the mid-'90s — ragga-inflected breakbeats and one of the genre's defining catalogues, 'Original Nuttah' eternal.
Shy FX is the London producer André Williams, one of the figures who helped shape jungle in the first half of the 1990s. His 1994 track "Original Nuttah", made with vocalist UK Apache, remains among the most recognisable records the genre produced, and its ragga toasting over chopped breakbeats set a template many followed.
He continued through drum and bass's later phases with a run of collaborations, including work with T Power, and ran the Digital Soundboy label, which released music by a number of younger producers. His own output has stayed connected to reggae and soundsystem culture, favouring vocal-led, dancefloor-oriented tracks over purely technical drum programming.
