Sleeping Giant formed in Riverside, California, in 2006, and became one of the more prominent bands in the Christian hardcore scene of that era. Fronted by vocalist Tommy Green, the group played metallic hardcore built on heavy breakdowns, with lyrics and stage delivery drawn explicitly from Green's preaching, so that shows often incorporated spoken exhortation between songs.
The band was associated with the wider Southern California scene around Facedown Records and toured widely within Christian and general hardcore circuits before winding down its regular activity.
