The Temper Trap
'Sweet Disposition' forever — Melbourne's festival-euphoria specialists returned, delay pedals at the ready, euphoria delivered on schedule.
The Temper Trap formed in Melbourne in the mid-2000s, built around the high, keening falsetto of singer Dougy Mandagi and a sound that leans on reverb-heavy guitar figures, driving tom patterns and long builds. Their debut album, Conditions, arrived in 2009 and produced "Sweet Disposition," a song whose delayed guitar line and slow-swelling arrangement became widely used in film and television and made the band a fixture on radio and outdoor stages internationally.
Later records moved further toward synthesizers and pop production while keeping the widescreen scale of the early material. The band relocated to London for a period and has toured extensively, with live sets that tend to emphasise the anthemic end of the catalogue.
