The long-running Smiths tribute — a set that exists because the originals never will, played with more affection than irony.

These Charming Men are a Dublin band who play the songs of The Smiths, working through the singles and album tracks with a full four-piece line-up rather than an acoustic approximation. Much of the work falls to the guitarist, since Johnny Marr's parts carry most of the arrangements, and the sets lean on the jangle and the countermelodies as much as the vocal lines. They have played regularly in Ireland and Britain, and their audiences skew toward people who were listening the first time around and people who were born too late to have had the option.
