Ziggy Marley is a Jamaican singer, songwriter and guitarist, the eldest son of Bob Marley and Rita Marley. He began performing as a child and led Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers with his siblings Sharon, Cedella and Stephen, a group that became one of reggae's most widely heard acts of the 1980s and 1990s before he moved into a solo career.
His music sits in the roots reggae tradition, with socially minded lyrics and a light, conversational vocal delivery that closely resembles his father's phrasing. Alongside his own catalogue, he has recorded and performed his father's songs, and has worked on children's music and books. He has also collaborated across genres and contributed music to film and television.
