Wesley Eisold's synth project — hardcore roots audible under the cold, enormous hooks, darkwave built by someone who learned intensity the loud way.

Cold Cave is the project of Wesley Eisold, who came out of American hardcore as a vocalist and lyricist with bands including American Nightmare and Give Up the Ghost before turning to synthesizers in the late 2000s. The music borrows from early industrial, minimal wave and 1980s synth-pop: drum machines, layered analogue keyboards, and Eisold's flat, low vocal set against unexpectedly large melodic hooks. The lineup has shifted over the years, with Amy Lee performing alongside Eisold in more recent incarnations. Albums including Love Comes Close and Cherish the Light Years established the sound, and Eisold has also released a long run of singles and EPs through his own Heartworm Press.
