RIKI is the solo project of Niff Nawor, a singer and songwriter based in Los Angeles with a background in the city's punk and hardcore scenes. The music draws on 1980s minimal synth, Italo disco and European synth-pop, built from analogue drum machines and sequenced bass with clean, melodic vocals over the top. Her self-titled debut album was released by Dais Records in 2020. The songs tend toward pop structures rather than pure atmosphere, which places RIKI slightly apart from much of the darkwave and coldwave material she is grouped with.
