Silly, hook-stuffed UK punk that treats every show as a party first — glam-daft costumes, huge choruses, zero self-seriousness.
Dirtbox Disco formed in Burton upon Trent and spent years as a fixture of Britain's DIY punk circuit, playing small venues and independently run punk weekenders rather than chasing radio. The line-up performed under stage names, with vocalist and guitarist Spunk Volcano at the front, and the songs leaned on fast, three-chord punk arrangements with choruses built for a room shouting along.
The material is deliberately unserious in subject matter, but the writing is tight, closer to pop-punk and glam than to hardcore. After the band wound down, Spunk Volcano continued with his own group, Spunk Volcano and the Eruptions.
