Chicago's most unguarded street writer — rapid, breathless verses that treat trauma as documentary rather than décor.
G Herbo is a rapper from the East Side of Chicago, born Herbert Wright III. He first drew attention as Lil Herb in the early 2010s, when "Kill Shit", made with his frequent collaborator Lil Bibby, circulated alongside the wider Chicago drill wave. The 2014 mixtape Welcome to Fazoland, named for a friend who had been killed, established him as one of the scene's more detailed narrators.
His delivery is dense and fast, with long unbroken runs of syllables and little concern for conventional hook writing. Later work turned increasingly inward: the 2020 album PTSD dealt directly with the psychological aftermath of growing up around violence, a subject he has continued to discuss openly outside his music.
