Atlanta's most bankable technician — an effortless, conversational flow that turned street reportage into stadium-scale trap without ever raising his voice.

Lil Baby, born Dominique Jones, grew up in Atlanta and began recording after a period of incarceration, releasing a string of mixtapes through Quality Control Music in the late 2010s. His delivery is loose and conversational, often half-sung, and his writing tends toward plainspoken accounts of money, loyalty and the circumstances he came from.

He broke through with mixtape work and the album Harder Than Ever, then widened his audience considerably with collaborations, including a joint project with fellow Atlanta rapper Gunna. His 2020 album My Turn was among the most commercially successful rap records of that year, and the standalone single "The Bigger Picture," written in response to that summer's protests, marked a more overtly political turn in his writing.
