Mahmut Orhan
Turkish producer whose melodic house leans on folk melodies and vocal samples from well outside dance music's usual sources — Anatolian color at club tempo.
Mahmut Orhan started working with music in Bursa at the age of 15, then moved to Istanbul in 2011 to work at a nightclub called Bebek. His first international success came in 2015 with the instrumental track "Age of Emotions," which put him on the radar of European dance audiences.
The following year, "Feel," built around a vocal from Turkish singer Sena Şener, spread across Greece, Germany, Poland and Romania and reached number one on iTunes. The track set the template for his sound: mid-tempo, melody-led productions that draw on Turkish and wider Anatolian phrasing rather than the usual club-vocal formula.
In 2017 he released a remix of the "Game of Thrones" theme and the single "Save Me" with Romanian singer Eneli, both well received across Europe. The following year brought the remix album One, led by "6 Days," a reworking of "Six Day War" by the British group Colonel Bagshot that topped charts in Greece, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria.
