Alabama's raw nerve — a cracked, straining voice turning pain rap into something closer to blues than trap.

NoCap is a rapper from Mobile, Alabama, born Kobe Crawford. He works in a melodic strain of Southern trap built around a thin, straining vocal tone that cracks and slides across the beat, and his writing tends toward first-person accounts of loss, incarceration and paranoia rather than boasting.

He released a string of mixtapes through the late 2010s and into the 2020s that established him as one of the more distinctive voices of the Alabama rap scene, with "Ghetto Angels" among his best-known songs. He has recorded frequently with fellow Mobile rapper Rylo Rodriguez.
