Saliva

2 festivals played

Memphis band from the nu-metal boom whose riff-and-hook formula outlasted the trend that produced it — three decades of rap-inflected hard rock.

Saliva formed in Memphis in 1996 and broke through with Every Six Seconds, which carried the singles "Your Disease" and "Click Click Boom." The follow-up, Back Into Your System, produced "Always," and the band's music became a fixture of wrestling and sports broadcasts during the period. Their sound combines downtuned guitar riffs with sung choruses and occasional rapped verses.

Josey Scott fronted the group through its most commercially successful years before departing; Bobby Amaru has handled lead vocals since, and the band has continued releasing albums and touring.
