The Ghost Inside formed in Los Angeles in 2006 and became one of the more prominent American melodic metalcore bands of the following decade, combining hardcore's rhythmic weight with sung and shouted choruses and lyrics aimed at perseverance rather than nihilism.
In 2015 the band's tour bus was involved in a collision that killed both drivers and left members with serious injuries. The band did not perform for several years, returning with a self-titled album and a gradual resumption of touring. The music has stayed largely consistent in form, though the circumstances have given the recurring themes of endurance an unavoidable literal weight.
