The K's
Merseyside indie built for shouting back at — brisk, hook-forward guitar rock that turned a devoted local following into a national one.
The K's formed in 2016 in Earlestown, between Liverpool and Manchester. Singer and guitarist Jamie Boyle and bassist Dexter Baker had known each other since nursery, and later met guitarist Ryan Breslin while still at school. Drummer Nathan Peers joined the line-up in 2023, after two earlier drummers had held the seat through the band's early years.
The band spent several years building an audience through touring and self-released singles before signing a record deal. Their first single, Sarajevo, came out in July 2017 and circulated widely among fans long before a full-length record followed.
Their sound is fast, guitar-driven indie rock with shouted choruses and short running times, closer to the terrace-friendly end of the northern English guitar tradition than to anything experimental.
Their debut album, I Wonder If the World Knows?, arrived in April 2024 and entered the UK Albums Chart at number three. A second album, Pretty on the Internet, followed in July 2025 and went straight to number one. The K's won Breakthrough Act of the Year at the inaugural Northern Music Awards that year, and their shows remain built around crowds singing the songs back at volume.
