Good Neighbours

2 festivals played

A London duo whose first single went everywhere before they had played a show — sunny, whistling indie-pop now proving itself the traditional way.

Good Neighbours came together in London in 2023, formed by Oli Fox and Scott Verrill, who had each worked in music before pairing up. Their debut single, "Home," was released on 17 January 2024 and spread online fast enough to reach number 26 on the UK chart before the duo had built up any kind of live show.

That gave them a streaming audience before an audience in rooms, which is the reverse of how most bands work through a following. The songs lean on bright, hook-led melodies, whistled and wordless vocal refrains, layered harmonies and hand-clap rhythms, aiming more for festival singalong than guitar-band grit.

Since "Home," Good Neighbours have kept to that same warm, upbeat template on subsequent releases, effectively building the live career and body of work that would usually come before a hit rather than after one.
