East London dance-pop built for the 5am end of the night, with the songwriting to survive daylight — rave euphoria with a pop heart.

Rose Gray was born Rosie May Hudson-Edmonds on 31 December 1996 in her parents' flat in Muswell Hill, arriving in a paddling pool set up for the birth. Her mother and stepfather both work as actors, and her stepfather first encouraged her to write songs with him.

At 14 she reached the final of Open Mic UK and signed to a label soon after, writing more than 100 songs she was later unable to keep when she left. She spent time working the door at Fabric nightclub and drifted away from music before starting to write and release again under her own name.

Her music moves between pop songwriting and club records, pulling on house, 1990s rave and Italo-disco, with her own voice carrying the songs rather than sitting on top of the beat as a feature. Early singles led to the mixtape Dancing, Drinking, Talking, Thinking in 2021, then two EPs for PIAS, Synchronicity and Higher Than the Sun, the single "Happiness," a collaboration with Kungs, and a feature on "Call Me a Lioness," recorded in support of England's women's football team at a World Cup.

Her debut album, Louder, Please, arrived in January 2025, leaning further into dance production while keeping verse-chorus structures intact. She toured the UK behind it, supported Sugababes, Kesha and the Scissor Sisters, and later released an expanded edition featuring guest appearances from Melanie C, Jade and Shygirl.

Her live show is built around a band setup rather than a DJ booth, and she is often grouped with a wider set of British artists working the same seam between guitar-scene origins and dancefloor material. Gray married actor Harris Dickinson, who directed two of her music videos, and was nominated for the Critics' Choice award at the Brit Awards.
