The Outcasts formed in Belfast in 1977 and were among the bands documented by Terri Hooley's Good Vibrations label, the shop and imprint that anchored punk in Northern Ireland during the Troubles. Built around the Cowan brothers, the band played rough, fast punk with a streak of humour, and were known locally for a rowdier reputation than some of their peers.
Their singles for Good Vibrations, including "Just Another Teenage Rebel", remain the recordings they are best remembered for, and they have reunited to play periodically in the decades since.
