Pro Era producer-turned-rapper — smoky, soulful East Coast beats under unhurried, writerly bars, in the lineage that runs from Dilla to Earl.

Chuck Strangers was born Che Jessamy in January 1992 and grew up in Brooklyn, where he became one of the founding voices of the Pro Era collective built around Joey Bada$$ in the early 2010s.

Before stepping to the microphone himself, he built a name as a producer, shaping the dusty, sample-based sound of Joey Bada$$'s 1999 mixtape and other early Pro Era material, work that set the tone for the crew's boom-bap identity.

His solo debut, Consumers Park, arrived in 2018, built around self-produced beats and a conversational, unhurried flow. He followed it in 2024 with a second album, A Forsaken Lover's Plea, released on Lex Records to a warm reception.

That record found him trading verses with Joey Bada$$, Remy Banks, Erick the Architect and Obii Say, with production handled by trusted collaborators including The Alchemist and Animoss.

Outside his own albums he has turned up on records by Roc Marciano, Eyedress, Pink Siifu and Ka, and put out the single BMOP, produced by Evidence, keeping him tied into a wider circle of underground hip-hop.
