Noname

1 festival played

Chicago rapper-poet delivering dense political writing in an almost conversational half-whisper, over live jazz — book-club radicalism at festival volume.

Noname is the recording name of Fatimah Nyeema Warner, a rapper and poet from Chicago who came up through the city's spoken-word scene and first reached a wide audience through guest appearances, including work with Chance the Rapper.

Her releases include the mixtape Telefone (2016), Room 25 (2018) and Sundial (2023). She raps quietly and quickly, close to conversational speech, over live-sounding arrangements drawn from jazz and soul, and her writing moves between personal detail and explicit political argument. She also founded Noname's Book Club, a reading initiative distributing work by writers of colour.
