RL Grime is Henry Steinway, a producer and DJ based in Los Angeles who had earlier released house-leaning music as Clockwork. Under the RL Grime name he became one of the central figures in the wave of trap-influenced electronic music that emerged in the early 2010s, associated with the WeDidIt collective and later running his own label, Sable Valley.
His productions combine the drum programming and 808 sub-bass of Southern rap with orchestral samples, drawn-out builds and heavy drops, an approach heard across the albums "Void" and "NOVA." He is also known for an annual Halloween mix, released each year since the early 2010s, which blends unreleased material and edits and has become a fixture of his output.
