War On Women

War On Women formed in Baltimore in 2010, built around vocalist Shawna Potter and guitarist Brooks Harlan. The band plays a co-ed hardcore punk with lyrics that deal directly with misogyny, sexual violence, reproductive rights and harassment, delivered in Potter's declamatory shout over fast, thickly distorted riffs.
Beyond the band, Potter has worked as an advocate against street harassment and on making music venues safer spaces, an interest that carries into War On Women's records and the way they talk to a room between songs. Their albums have appeared on Bridge Nine Records, and their live shows tend to combine short, blunt songs with equally blunt spoken introductions.
