Flock of Dimes is the solo project of Jenn Wasner, who is also half of the Baltimore duo Wye Oak and has performed and recorded as part of Bon Iver's live band. Begun in 2011, the project gave Wasner room for material built more around synthesizers, layered vocals and looping than Wye Oak's guitar-and-drums framework, though her guitar playing remains central. The songs tend toward dense arrangements and unusual harmonic turns, with lyrics that deal plainly with change, solitude and attachment.
