Party-deathcore built for the pit — Chris Fronzak's bark, gleefully profane anthems, and absolutely no interest in anyone's approval.
Chris Fronzak formed Attila in Atlanta in 2005 with Sean Heenan, Sam Halcomb, Matt Booth and Kris Wilson, bandmates he knew from high school and mutual friends. Fronzak named the group after Attila the Hun, a name he came across while reading. The band did not become a full-time touring act until around 2010.
Their material pairs downtuned, breakdown-heavy riffing with rapped and barked vocals, and lyrics that push deliberately toward partying and profanity rather than the darker themes common in the genre.
Attila self-released the demo Fallacy in 2007 and put out its debut, Soundtrack to a Party, in 2008 before signing to Artery Recordings and releasing Rage in 2010, recorded with producer Stephan Hawkes in Portland. About That Life, produced by Joey Sturgis in 2013, became the band's most successful record, debuting at number 22 on the Billboard 200.
The band has toured with acts including Hed PE, Insane Clown Posse, Emmure, Chelsea Grin and Falling in Reverse, and has released nine full-length albums with a tenth due in 2026. Fronzak has also released music as a solo artist and founded his own clothing line.
