Menace
'GLC' and a lifetime of London punk delivered without a shred of nostalgia — first-wave veterans still swinging.
Menace formed in London in 1976 and were part of the city's first wave of punk, playing the same circuit as the bands that defined the period. They are best remembered for the single "GLC", an attack on the Greater London Council that has outlasted its immediate target and become a standard of the era, along with "Screwed Up".
The original run was short, but the band has reassembled at various points since and continues to perform, keeping the same terse, shouted, three-chord approach. Their material sits close to the boundary between punk and the oi! that followed it.
