Chewed-bubblegum indie pop — jangly, wry, effortlessly likable, with more guitar firepower live than the records suggest.

Peach Pit trace back to 2014, when high school friends Neil Smith and Christopher Vanderkooy started writing together in Vancouver. The lineup filled out with bassist Peter Wilton and drummer Mikey Pascuzzi, and the band took its current name in 2016.

Their debut EP, Sweet FA, came out that June, followed a year later by the album Being So Normal on the Vancouver label Kingfisher Bluez. Before that record's success let them quit their day jobs, Smith and Wilton had worked as delivery drivers, Vanderkooy at a local brewery, and Pascuzzi as a carpenter.

The band's sound is built on clean, jangling guitar lines with a surf and soft-rock inflection, paired with wry, low-key vocals and lyrics that tend toward the wistful and self-deprecating.

During the Being So Normal era they performed in the same outfits at every show, a habit that started after buying the clothes for a music video shoot. Touring took them through North America, Europe, and Asia, sharing bills with acts like Mac DeMarco and Dayglow.

They followed with the albums You and Your Friends in 2020, From 2 to 3 in 2022, and Magpie in 2024, and their live shows have consistently leaned harder and louder than the records, with guitar interplay stretched out well beyond the studio versions.
