Mike G is a rapper from Los Angeles and one of the members of Odd Future, the collective that also included Tyler, the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, Hodgy and Frank Ocean. He appeared on the group's collaborative releases and built his own catalogue largely through mixtapes issued during and after the collective's most visible years.
Compared with the more confrontational voices around him, Mike G worked in a calmer register: unhurried, conversational verses delivered over hazy, sample-based production, often concerned with everyday detail rather than provocation. He has continued releasing music independently since Odd Future wound down as a working group.
