Hardcore veterans making sunny, ramshackle power-pop with the energy of a band that has nothing to prove — Turnstile and Trapped Under Ice pedigree, zero tough-guy posture.

Angel Du$t formed in Baltimore out of that city's hardcore scene, with members whose other bands include Turnstile and Trapped Under Ice. Justice Tripp handles vocals, and the group's early releases stayed close to short, fast hardcore punk before the songwriting widened considerably.

Over subsequent records the band leaned into melody, acoustic guitars, handclaps and hooks drawn from power-pop and classic rock, while keeping the brevity and looseness of its hardcore roots. Songs rarely outstay their welcome, and the live show tends toward scrappy enthusiasm rather than the posturing associated with the scene the members came from.
